  • Hi, I’m Amy! It’s nice to meet you! Let me tell you a little bit about myself so you can decide if I’m the right therapist for you. I decided to become a therapist the first time I set foot in a therapy office as a college student. It was love at first sight- or should I say experience? I walked out of that first session knowing that this is what I wanted to do with my life. I was going to be a therapist!

I obtained my master’s degree in counseling in 2002 but my dream of practicing as a therapist was put on hold as I took time to build and raise family. Finally, it was time to pursue my passion of helping people. During the past few years, I have completed additional classes, trainings, accrued thousands of hours of clinical experience, and became licensed as a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and board certified as a national certified counselor (NCC). I have worked in both a community mental health setting as well as a private practice and have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people and presenting issues. I honestly have loved every minute of it! It has never felt like work to me.

What type of therapist am I? Well, I can tell you that if you are looking for someone that sits there silently, nods their head, and asks “How does that make you feel?”, please keep looking because I am not that kind of therapist. I am much more interactive than that. There will be times when I am more quiet but my clients have come to realize that means some really deep thinking is going on which tends to move the therapy forward in an important way! I value and place great importance on the relationship that I have with each client. I come as myself (no therapist mask for me) and I encourage my clients to be their authentic self as well. We will work together to figure out your goals and help you obtain the necessary skills and insight you need to make lasting change.

I can’t quite put into words what it feels like when I see the changes my clients make throughout the therapy process. Everyone deserves to have peace and joy in their life and I believe this is attainable for all. Whether you are new to therapy or are a seasoned veteran, I hope that you give yourself the chance to experience the transformative nature of therapy so you too can achieve peace and joy in your life. Life is too short to keep putting it off! It’s time to find your place on the therapy couch. First sessions can be transformative you know… take it from someone who’s been there.
